Catching Cavities Early Keeps Treatment Simple
What Is a Cavity?
A cavity is a small hole in a tooth caused by decay. Bacteria in plaque feed on sugars and produce acids that slowly wear through the enamel. Left alone, decay spreads deeper into the tooth and can reach the nerve.
The good news: when we find a cavity early, treatment is quick, comfortable and affordable.
Sealants: Stopping Decay Before It Starts
Sealants are a thin, clear coating painted onto the chewing surfaces of back teeth, where grooves trap food and bacteria. They are painless, take minutes to apply and can protect teeth for years. Sealants are especially helpful for children and teens.
Fillings: Repairing Small to Medium Cavities
For most cavities, a tooth-coloured composite filling is the answer. We gently remove the decay, then fill and shape the tooth with a material matched to your natural shade. Most fillings take a single visit.
- Blends in with your smile
- Bonds to the tooth for extra strength
- No mercury, no metal
Crowns and Root Canals: When Decay Goes Deeper
If decay has damaged a large part of the tooth, a crown may be needed to protect what remains. When decay reaches the nerve, a root canal removes the infection and saves the tooth. Both are routine, comfortable procedures today.
